Summoned and Unwanted

Chapter 735 - 735 The twin swords

“The only young child with natural red hair and eyes in Berlucia appeared in Lusterfall and later Selos region. Furthermore, in the same few months, my son and his family were killed.”

“Luciano! I always thought you didn’t know where your son eloped to and ran away. Now You are telling me you knew where he was and also know he is dead?” The king gently shook his head. “I feel you have betrayed my trust.”

A wrinkly frown appeared on Luciano’s face as he continued in an angered tone. “All the murderers involved unfortunately suffered from a cyclone that had hit our lands. No one was left alive as if the dragon gods brought judgment upon them.”

The king, Anna, Bilka, and Karta didn’t buy the excuse when the man who could cause such destruction. It was obvious Luciano wiped out the village and anyone involved in killing his son and daughter-in-law without mercy.

“Regardless of the past, the present is what is important to me. Today I got to see my granddaughter for the first time. I even gave her a special sword.”

“Teacher. Does it mean you are supporting Ester Lionheart in this competition? What kind of artifact or legendary weapon did you give her?” Karta asked.

“Ho ho. It is an ordinary sword.”

“Why did uncle sage say it was a special sword? I thought my friend was going to have more chances to be safe.” Anna questioned with a worried tone.

.....

“Friend?” The king became shocked to hear Anna mention having a friend.

“Ho ho. Are the two of you acquainted?”

“Yes.” I am sponsoring Vincent Lionheart. His wives became my friends because of that...” Anna glanced at her father, and the frown on his face caused her to stop mentioning this subject as if she was touching a sore spot.

“Ho ho. Lady luck really loves to play with us mortals. I didn’t expect her highness would meet and become friends with my granddaughter before I met her.”

Luciano glanced at the king and joked, “I also didn’t expect someone I know to let their daughter sponsor a man and also befriend his wives. Does it mean her highness is interested in this Vincent fellow?”

“My daughter is too young to speak about love.” The king angrily responded.

“Ho ho. You can tell that to all the young gals younger than her highness already engaged.”

“Ahem.” Karta cleared her throat to stop the two most important people in their kingdoms from bickering.

“I heard from Duke Lucas that Vincent is like a big brother and his wives like big sisters to her highness. In the past few days, her highness visited the Lionheart residence every day.” Karta slyly smirked as she glanced at Anna. “Visited secretly with Duke Lucas, that is.”

“Ho ho. Duke Lucas is still a softie when her highness is involved.”

The king tapped on his armrest. He wondered when Lucas was going to return while formulating questions to ask later. Lucas was going to have to spend some time with the king after returning.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the five combatants, along with their familiars representing the coalition of five noble families, are entering the field.”

While the commentator was making the introduction, five men and five large bears following them made an appearance.

“Ladies and gentlemen. The five combatants are famous gladiators. As some of you know, these gladiators are ranked as the second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth in the top ten gladiators rankings.”

“Now, can we have a comment from the representative about the five men representing the coalition of five noble families? I bet many ladies and gentlemen want to know more.” The commentator asked.

“Egidio, you are a man with good eyes. The people and their familiars are undoubtedly powerful enough to win in less than five minutes.”

“Thank you, but I wonder why you feel confident in the victory.” The commentator taunted for more response. The more hype there was, the more memorable the judgment by combat was going to be.

“Hah. I heard there is no slave participating in the losing side. That means the opposing team is going to fight with their family members.”

“Hahahahaha.” Darwin laughed as he couldn’t remain with a straight face while looking at the overconfident representative of the five noble families.

The commentator became interested in the reason for Darwin’s laughter. “Marquis Darwin Griffinheart, my, we all know what is currently amusing you.” He curiously asked.

“Ahem, sorry for interrupting, but I hope everyone tries to answer this question during the combat to witness who the dragon gods side with.”

“And what is this question, Marquis Darwin Griffinheart?”

“What does it mean if a person chooses to fight alongside his family instead of using strong slaves to do the fighting for him?” Darwin vaguely told all the people with the sound entending gemstone in his hand.

“Hah. Just tell say you are on Lionheart’s side instead of telling everyone vague questions. The best of the best slaves on the market is at the center of the field. I say these five powerful gladiators are overkill against the other team, haha.”

“Hmm. Overkill, you say? Ladies and gentlemen. We now heard little details about the participants, but what about the five large bear familiars behind them? They look a little large than usual.”

The representative of the five families crossed his arms and acted overly confident. “They are merely five bears born from the same mother. Additionally, all of them were born with a magic core.”

“Interesting. Is there more you want everyone to know?” The commentator curiously asked.

“They received special training from birth. That means they are the best of the best familiars on the market. Any familiar on the other side will be nothing compared to their power.”

The commentator nodded. “Ladies and gentlemen. You heard it directly from the representative of the five families. We will have an interesting familiar versus familiar fight soon.”

The commentator leaned on to Darwin and curiously asked, “Can we know the thoughts of the headmaster of the Lusterfall noble academy?”

“How about we continue with the introductions? I have already seen with two eyes who will be the winner today. There is no need to delay this any further.” Darwin said after looking at the stats of the five gladiators and the five familiars. Yet on his face was a frown as if he saw details he didn’t like.

“Oh! I nearly forgot Marquis Darwin Griffinheart has the bloodline skill inspection. That means the Marquis has a winning side in his mind.”

The commentator said before his curiosity could not hold his mouth from asking, “Who does the Marquis think will win the favor of the dragon gods and prove their truth was the real truth?”

“It. Is. A. Secret.” Darwin said with a grin on his face.

*Sigh* “Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize, but I could not find who the Marquis believes will win.” The commentator grabbed a bunch of documents. He looked at each gladiator entry and introduced them in the most entertaining way possible.

The king didn’t pay much attention to the gladiators and the bears on the field. He looked at Luciano and asked, “Can you answer us now?”

“Thank you for giving me a little time.” Luciano extended his hand toward the field. “I know there is a barrier set up to block anyone from entering or exiting. No one can interrupt the judgment by combat because of it, yet I might break it to save my granddaughter.”

“Don’t speak crazy, teacher!” Karta exclaimed.

“I don’t want uncle sage to suffer from so much bad karma that the bad luck would kill you in less than a week.” Anna said in a saddened tone.

“They are right. Not only will we grieve, but your death might cause a war.” The king told Luciano.

“My life for my granddaughter is not a bad exchange...”

“Ester will not die!” Anna exclaimed, interrupting Luciano. “She will not lose because...”

“Because what?” The king questioned after Anna abruptly stopped speaking.

Karta looked at Anna. She nodded and faced the king and Luciano. “Ester is the currently known fourth sigil mage with immunity to her mana. Ester Lionheart will show the world what powerful mage is in the Lionheart family.”

“Yes! Today, the Lionheart family will spread their name throughout the whole world.” Anna said while clenching her fists. She appeared to be excited and impatient to see the Lionheart family appear next.

The king couldn’t believe his daughter, and Karta kept such an important secret from him. On the other hand, Luciano grinned happily while giving the impression he did not mind dying today.

“The sword I gave my granddaughter is her cousin’s birth gift because she did not need it anymore.”

“The blacksmith I showed the sword to had traveled to the northern content to learn more about the blacksmithing tools. He was the best expert blacksmith I could find in Berlucia city.”

“The blacksmith became shocked upon examining the sword. He could not believe how such an ordinary-looking sword had hidden signs of being hammered excessively, yet the blade retained normal temperament.”

“Furthermore, the blacksmith told me that the hilt is making the sword unbalanced and the sword will break if the hilt is removed.”

“The blacksmith believed the sword gave him the impression it was made specifically to be equipped with another sword and with an unbalanced hilt. He called it a twin sword.”
