Devil Slave (Satan system)

Chapter 387 The Value Of Magic Stones

Earlier on, the captain viewed him as some cargo he needed to transport. However, his view of Lenny had taken a full 360-degree turn.

Lenny had become a treasured guest.

This did not surprise Lenny one bit. Such were the ways of the world.

The strong are either feared or respected, and the others are treated like trash.

However, Lenny could not be bothered by him.

He just made his way back to the Crimson Leviathan.

The moment he got onboard, the men hurried to help him with his bath.

Meanwhile, Captain Crimson spat orders, his saliva splashing everywhere.

This was an opportunity that fell on his thighs from heaven.

Without a moment to waste, he and his crew members cleared the entire area of any and all valuables that they could find.

Wine, rations—it was all swept clean in only an hour.

And then the Crimson Leviathan continued onward on its journey.

Lenny freshened up and had a change of clothes.

By the time he came up the deck, they all looked at him differently.

Meanwhile, Lenny could not help but wonder why the smell of oil was stronger than before.

On seeing him, Captain Crimson immediately had someone else take the wheel while he hurried to him.

His fawning smile was even better than before.

"Mr. Lenny, I bring you good news!"

"Good news, really? Okay, let\'s hear it!"

Captain Crimson waved his hand, and a crew member stepped forward with a little box in hand.

"My men searched the wreckage for anything of value. Unfortunately, we did not find anything noteworthy. But we did find this box of magic stones."

The small box presented was opened up, and within were ten magic stones the size of a pebble.

Lenny raised a brow at this.

When he had searched through the ship, he had intentionally left one big box filled with these magic stones, and if he remembered well, which he did, many of them were as big as a child\'s fist.

This meant that this pirate captain had even dug through the box and selected the ten smallest magic stones he could find.

Crimson had a pitiable face as he stared at Lenny.

"We did search thoroughly, but as you know, pirates are a really poor bunch. We were only able to find this much. My men and I are very grateful for the wine and rations we were able to salvage. We left this important box of magic stones for you. We were waiting for you to present it to you."

Captain Crimson beat his chest like an upright man.

He did it with so much justification that Lenny could have sworn that he saw a tear drop from the man\'s eye.

Lenny chuckled inwardly.

He gave a broad smile back at the captain.

"Oh, Captain Crimson, you are really very generous. However, as you know, I\'m not too familiar with these things. Why don\'t we do it like this I\'ll give you two of these stones if you tell me what they are used for."

Captain Crimson\'s eyes twitched. He could not believe it.

"Damn it. He does not even know what they are used for. If I had known, I would have only brought three of them. Damn it! Such a terrible loss!" Captain Crimson thought to himself.

Lenny, on the other hand, maintained his smile with the man.

Lenny did not know what Captain Crimson was thinking, but he had long dealt with people of his kind.

That look on his face could not deceive him one bit.

Captain Crimson smiled as he explained.

"These are called magic stones. They are not so easy to acquire. They are only produced by very old, mutated beasts. Or one of those pre-existing beasts of old.

The Beast accumulates magic in the air and condenses it in their lair or on their bodies.

The magic in the magic stones is very valuable. It can be extracted to make branded human skins that are used as currency.

They are used to make runes and magic armor, and if used the right way with other magic potions, they can even be absorbed into the body.

But, like I said, they are not so easy to find. Just this box could fetch at least 50 brand-marked human skins of the middle age.

In these poor deserted parts, that is a lot of money.

I could renovate my entire ship with that kind of money."

As Captain Crimson talked, Lenny could see the obvious greed in his eyes.

Apparently this man was a liar and a thief, but he would not deny his own greed.

In this aspect, Lenny surprisingly respected the man.

He really did not blame the captain for lying about the loot.

After all, in such a world, having such a character could either have him live a very long life or a short one.

What Lenny was concerned with was a different question entirely.

If such a commodity was obviously so valuable, why was it transported the way it was?

After all, it was known that magic stones were practically gold in this world.

Lenny remembered that in his former life, even banks transporting money usually had incredible security details.

All of which would be armed to the teeth.

Also, how did the other ship that was attacking know that the precious magic stones were aboard the vessel?

Something did not feel right.

However, for now, Lenny threw those questions to the back of his mind.

He turned to Perseus and handed him seven of the stones that Captain Crimson had presented.

After which, he thanked Captain Crimson for allowing him to leave with the other three stones.

Meanwhile, back at the wreckage they had left behind about an hour ago, a group of people arrived.

These people were not human beings...
