Chapter 381 - 377: Extra Chapter for Wushubufei (Asking for monthly tickets-recommendations and the like!)

Ignorant brat, completely unaware of his own limitations!” Mi Chu’s eyes filled with fury as the letter disintegrated into floating pieces of paper, startling the housekeeper in the hall,

“Young Master, there’s no need to get angry.” Yan Lingjing, the Left Envoy, tried to calm the enraged Mi Chu, “Young people are prone to verbal disputes, oblivious to the people they might offend. We can’t do anything to Tang Luo ’ while he’s holed up in their clan’s place, but we can certainly target his assets in Xiling which he can’t shield within the Tang Clan’s grounds!”

Unlike the prince’s residence, Beast King Residence is home to warriors recruited from all over by Mi Chu. Devoted to martial arts, he had no respect for any trajectory strategies. The residence’s strategists are all warriors and amidst them, Yan Lingjing has gradually become Mi Chu’s chief strategist and Beast Master.

After hearing his advice, Mi Chu took a deep breath to suppress his anger, turned his head and asked, “Tang Luo has assets in Xiling?”

“Indeed, he does.” explained Yan Lingjing, “YoungMaster, you might not know this, but the notorious Righteous Business Group which has been making headlines recently, is controlled by Tang Luo behind the scenes.”

The Righteous Business Group monopolized the agricultural market within a month, their unprecedented success in Xiling overshadowed everyone else. However, the other agricultural businesses in Xiling could not tolerate such dominance. Hence, the owners of several businesses collectively invited Manager Gong to a feast, hoping to get a share of the business. Yet, the person who arrived was not Gong Zheng, but a name plaque of Tang Luo.

From then on, Xiling finally understood the real power behind the sudden rise of Righteous Business Group and the elaborate plan of the banquet was laid to rest.

For the other princes of Xiling, Tang Luo’s name alone was a gold plaque that could serve as a divine token when hung above the gate. However, to Mi Chu, the latter was merely a decade younger successor of the Pride of Xiling. Especially considering there was no evidence suggesting that the Pride of Xiling had awakened his bloodline yet, Tang Luo certainly did not pose a threat to Mi Chu.

Just as he was about to destroy the Righteous Business Group, a messenger rushed from outside the gate to the hall and reported, “YoungMaster, Lord Shen’s carriage is outside. He seeks an audience for an urgent matter.” Mi Shen? Why is he here instead of in the new city?” Mi Chu furrowed his brows in confusion. Nevertheless, he instructed the housekeeper, “Let him in.” The two Beast Masters exchanged glances and eventually turned to Mi Chu inquiringly, “YoungMaster, shall we withdraw?”

“No need,” Mi Chu replied leisurely from his tiger head chair. “What secretive matter could he possibly have with me? If there were any secrets, the young clan leader wouldn’t have come to my residence. Relax.”

In no time, Mi Shen, whose robe billowed around him, was led into the hall by the housekeeper. The handsome young lord greeted Mi Chu from across the hall, “I haven’t seen you in a while, Chu. I trust everything has been well?” Although Mi Shen is the Young Clan Leader of Mi Clan, and Mi Chu merely a warrior of the clan without any title, the latter didn’t afford the former any courtesies. He didn’t even bother to stand up and return the greeting, but replied lazily instead, “All good, all good. Young Clan Leader, please find yourself a seat.”

As though he had grown used to Mi Chu’s high-handedness, Mi Shen took no offense. He slightly nodded at the two Beast Masters seated next to Mi Chu before sitting in the nearest guest seat.

Even before the tea was served, Mi Chu questioned, “What brings the Young Clan Leader here?11

His cold attitude indicated that he wished to get rid of Mi Shen as soon as possible, which felt even worse than how he treated his own brethren.

Mi Shen knew very well why his cousin had such resentment towards him. Sighing, he said, “The disturbance in the new city, the part where the defense troop Mis Stationed was ambushed by several Cultivation Peak warriors who were hiding their cultivation, I’m sorry about Luo He’s death.”

Once, their relationship was so close that Mi Chu asked Mi Shen to provide Luo He with some experience while Mi Chu was out on a mission. Without giving it a second thought, Mi Shen arranged for Luo He to join the defense team in the new city, thinking that it would be convenient for him to take care of Luo He. Unfortunately, during an unexpected uprising, the defense line was suddenly broken by the charge of three Cultivation Peak warriors, resulting in several deaths, including Luo He’s. Since then, Mi Chu had never shown any kindness towards him. Whenever they ran into each other in the clan, they wouldn’t even exchange greetings. He thought that time would have cooled Mi Chu’s anger, but it seemed he was far from forgiving.

“So, the Young Clan Leader is here to talk about that?!”

The mention of Luo He instantly turned Mi Chu’s face grim, and his voice turned colder, “If that’s all, there’s no need to talk further. You may leave.” Knowing that he wouldn’t be able to pacify his cousin anytime soon, Mi Shen said, “I’m not here for Luo He’s affair, but for the duel you’re having with Xiao Zheng in Jiang Lin on the first day of August.”

“It seems like the job in the new city isn’t keeping the Young Clan Leader busy enough, you’ve taken to meddling in such trivial affairs,” said Mi Chu, infuriated, his arms crossed over his chest.

Mi Shen was unperturbed and said seriously, “What I wanted to tell you is, even if you defeat Xiao Zheng, that will not determine the fate of the painter.” Ridiculous!” Mi Chu stood up, his face full of contempt, “Just a painter! Are you saying that with the formidable strength of Beast King Residency, we can’t control him?!”

A painter on his own isn’t a big deal, of course.” replied Mi Shen calmly, “But he has two extraordinary friends that you must consider.”

“Huh, apart from Xiao Zheng, he also has some background?” Mi Chu waved his hand and encouraged, “Tell us more about it, how extraordinary can his background be?”

He emphasized the word ‘extraordinary’, implying his eagerness to know whom he might consider a match for him in Xiling.

The two Beast Masters also showed contempt, not towards Young Clan Leader Shen, but towards the purported background of the painter.

Mi Shen, realizing that Mi Chu had misunderstood him, clarified, “Xiao Zheng is not quite the ‘extraordinary’ friend I was referring to. The extraordinary friends I mentioned are – Pride of Xiling, Tang Luo!”

Even though they were just planning to topple Tang Luo’s businesses, hearing that the painter was Tang Luo’s friend rendered the two Beast Masters speechless. Mi Chu, still wrapped in his anger, snorted coldly, “Hmm, what is there to fear from a coward who boasts without stepping out to fight?” “He also has another friend,” said Mi Shen, looking seriously at Mi Chu, “the Wanderer of Xu Clan from Yuanzhou, Old Man Xu Ying.”

The hall fell abruptly silent. Not just the two Beast Masters, even Mi Chu, who was seething a moment ago, froze in place.

The fame of a man is like the shadow of a tree. As a warrior who had directly faced the formidable Wanderer, Mi Chu felt an immeasurable gap between himself and Xu Ying. Even in defeat, he never mentioned revenge. He didn’t know how he could ever compete with that Xu Clan’s… Wan…Der…Er… who was several years younger than him.
