You're My Only Star

Chapter 273 - A Legend

The moment she entered the water, Lu Xun had quickly swum to her side. Song Xing Xing was a little scared as she did not know the depth of the water. However, she gradually relaxed when she could feel her legs touching the bottom.

Song Xing Xing wiped the droplets of water on her face again before she looked up.

"How is it?"

"The water is a bit cold," Song Xing Xing said. "But fortunately, the water is not as deep as I had thought."

Seeing that she was not panicking, Lu Xun finally approached closer and wrapped his arms around her waist. His sudden move made her startled. Song Xing Xing raised her hand and hugged him around his neck to prevent herself from falling.

Their body plastered on each other and their gazes met. Because he was not wearing a spectacle, Song Xing Xing was unable to look away from him for a long time.

Each time that she looked into them, her heartbeat accelerated and something in her stomach was doing a summersault. It felt as if her heart was going to burst. She really liked this feeling.

Now that she thought about it, the first time she had seen him take off his glasses, Song Xing Xing had immediately become smitten with his eyes. His eyes were pretty and dazzling. They were tempting her to get closer.

Following her instinct, Song Xing Xing dipped her head and kissed his lips.

She could feel the way his lips curled into a smile the moment they touched. One of his hands reached to the back of her head, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss.

It has been a long day from the moment Song Wei had suddenly appeared before her and announced that he will be joining them on this trip.

Knowing that there were only two of them at this time, Song Xing Xing felt a little excited. After a while, she pulled away and stared into his eyes again.

"Is my eyes that pretty?" His lips curled into a teasing smile.

"Mhm..." Song Xing Xing nodded. Here had moved to touch the corner of his eyes. "You\'re not wearing glasses this time. Are you sure that you can see well?"

"It\'s enough that I can see you."

Song Xing Xing was not expecting this answer and her face turned a little red.

Lu Xun chuckled. "My hyperopia isn\'t that serious. I can still see you clearly in this distance." His head tilted to one side. "Otherwise, you can be my eyes."

Her brow raised. "Are you not afraid that I will lead you to a dangerous place?"

"I trust you. Even if you lead me to a dangerous place, you will be with me, right?" His hands around her waist slowly went down to her thigh area. With one swift move, he lifted her up slightly.

Song Xing Xing yelped. Her legs wrapped around his waist to stabilize herself.

"Like this, you can\'t run away and leave me alone to face danger, right?"

Song Xing Xing had thought that their new position was a little awkward. However, when she heard his words, she was no longer thinking about how he had hugged her closely with her legs around him.

"When facing danger, shouldn\'t you be asking me to hide behind you instead?"

"Why should you be hiding? After that time when I found that you were only pretending to be a drunk to escape a dangerous situation, I already know that you\'re not a weakling. Rather than hiding behind me, we should stand side by side and face danger together."

Her eyes lit up. She found that his words sounded really nice to listen to.

Having someone promising to protect her sounded nice, But the promise to stand and fight together made her feel trusted.

Lu Xun took her into a slightly deeper part and held her hand as they continued to swim. When the water reached her waist level, Song Xing Xing tightened her grip around his arms. "Let\'s not go farther away."

Seeing the worried look in her eyes, Lu Xun agreed not to go further.

The couple swam around close to the platform.

After being a while in the water, Song Xing Xing was no longer as worried. Just as the two were playing around, Song Xing Xing felt something was moving around her calf.

Her scream resounded in the area. Song Xing Xing jumped up in shock before her body submerged in the water.

Seeing this scene, Lu Xun began to panic. Fortunately, his girlfriend resurfaced in the water very quickly.

Lu Xun went over to her side and gave her a look over. Once he was sure that there was nothing wrong with her, only then did he let out a breath of relief.

"What\'s wrong?"

Song Xing Xing flashed a sheepish smile at him. "Nothing. I think some fishes were swimming around my legs."

"Are you sure it\'s some fishes?"

Song Xing Xing narrowed her eyes dangerously at him. "If you try to scare me, I will bite you."

He actually did not mind it if his girlfriend wanted to take a bite at him. In fact, he might actually like it? But seeing the threatening look in her eyes, Lu Xun chose to be obedient.

"I suddenly recalled something that Long Fei had told me." He saw that he had managed to get her attention and moved closer. "There is a legend in this town."

"What kind of legend?"

"He said... there\'s a dragon in this lake," Lu Xun said. "This legend said it was this dragon who protected the villagers from the outsiders."

Song Xing Xing naturally did not believe in such matters but decided to play along. "Then what happened?"

"Then... some bad people caught this dragon and killed it," Lu Xun continued. "Some people would say that the dragon is dead. And some people believe that the dragon is still alive and is keeping this place safe."

Her brow rose. "Do you think a dragon really exists?"

"I don\'t know. I think I might see one in the lake behind my parents\' house." He shrugged and smiled. "But it could be my imagination."

Song Xing Xing tapped his nose with a finger. "It should be your imagination."

In one swift motion, Lu Xun caught her finger and pulled her forward. With the motion, Song Xing Xing quickly fell into his arms. He leaned over to peck at her lips and sighed. "It\'s getting late. Let\'s go back before the sky turned dark."

"Oh." Song Xing Xing nodded. However, her arms snaked around his neck, holding him tighter.

"What are you doing?"

She leaned her head on his shoulder and spoke, "Too tired after playing in the water. Lu Xun, carry me out." Her voice sounded spoiled.

After pecking on top of her head once, Lu Xun wrapped his arms around her body, and carried her out safely from the lake.
