You're My Only Star

Chapter 101 - Don't Run Around Carelessly

Although he was sure that he had driven a little slow, Lu Xun still thought that they had arrived at the studio way too soon. The atmosphere in the car was too quiet as no one had spoken a word but Lu Xun found that he was satisfied even if he could only take a few more glances at the girl.

Seeing the familiar vehicle and plate number approaching, the guard raised the security barrier to let them pass.

Song Xing Xing only realized that they had arrived at the studio when the car slowed down to enter the compound. For a few seconds, there was a puzzled look on her face. Then, she looked around and gasped upon seeing familiar faces around the car.

Worried that those people were going to recognize her, Song Xing Xing immediately ducked.

"What\'s wrong with you?" Lu Xun asked.

"You should drop me off outside," Song Xing Xing said. "In fact, it would be best if you drop me a few blocks away."

"Why?"

"It would be troublesome to explain if someone saw me with you together."

Lu Xun looked at the girl and he did not know whether he should feel hurt that she did not want to be seen with him. He quickly reasoned that this girl always wanted to keep a low profile and composed himself.

"The car is tinted," Lu Xun said. "The others wouldn\'t be able to see you inside."

Song Xing Xing sat up straight upon hearing his words. Feeling slightly embarrassed at how she had acted, she quickly pretended to adjust her hair and looked away. A look of frustration appeared on her face.

"Don\'t worry. I will park at the side entrance and you could enter through there," Lu Xun continued. "No one will see you with me. I have promised you that I will keep your secret."

The vehicle finally pulled over at a spot. Song Xing Xing looked around and saw that there was no one around the place. It seemed that this side door was mostly used for emergencies.

Once she was sure that she was safe, Song Xing Xing quickly gather her stuff and pushed the door open.

"Song Xing Xing."

Her movement halted when she heard his voice. Turning around Song Xing Xing saw that Lu Xun was watching her with a gentle look on his face. All of a sudden, she felt a little shy to meet his gaze.

Song Xing Xing saw Lu Xun\'s stretched hand and raised a brow.

"Give me your phone."

"Why?"

"Take my number in case of emergency," Lu Xun explained. Seeing that the girl was about to reject him, Lu Xun quickly spoke, "It would be convenient for me to reach you if they found Bai Zhi."

Song Xing Xing thought that his explanation made sense and handed over her phone. After a while, the man\'s number was stored in her contact book.

"Don\'t run around carelessly. Just stay within the studio ground," Lu Xun said as he passed her phone back. "Wait for me to pick you up afterward. If you run into trouble, remember to call me."

Song Xing Xing narrowed her eyes as she looked at him. "President Lu. You… you are not trying to trick me or something, right?"

"Why would I want to trick you?"

Song Xing Xing did not answer but she still thought that the situation was a little strange.

Perhaps she had readied herself that she would not get her feelings reciprocated from the moment he had rejected her. To see him treating her nicely like this made her feel as if Lu Xun was playing with her.

Lu Xun pursed his lips into a thin line. He knew well that it would be hard for him to convince her that he was really serious with her this time.

"Don\'t think too much." He stretched his hand to pat her hair but stopped in time before he would be able to do anything. "Just go in first. I will see you later, alright?"

Song Xing Xing stared at him for a while before she turned around and leave.

Lu Xun watched as the girl entered through the side door. A helpless sigh escaped him upon seeing that the girl had turned to leave without looking back. Once he could not see her figure again, Lu Xun finally drove away.

As soon as she entered the office, Song Xing Xing put down her belongings and slumped into her chair. A deep frown appeared on her face as she thought of everything that transpired since this morning.

She could not understand it well but Song Xing Xing still had this feeling as if she was tricked.

As she was still deep in her thought, someone tapped on her shoulder. Turning around, Liu Yu Sheng stood beside her with a puzzled look on her face.

"Xing Xing, when did you arrive?" Liu Yu Sheng asked. "How come I didn\'t see you enter just now?"

"I arrived a little earlier than you."

"Oh." Liu Yu Sheng went over to her seat and switched on her computer. Just then, Song Xing Xing suddenly stood up and walked over to the door. "Xing Xing, where are you going?"

She waved her phone and said, "I just need to make a phone call."

Song Xing Xing ran over to a quiet corner and dialed a number. The call was connected after two seconds.

"Xing Xing?" Song Yi\'s voice could be heard on the other side. "You called me early this morning. What\'s up? Are you in trouble?"

"No. No, I\'m fine," Song Xing Xing quickly answered. "It\'s just that… Cousin brother, I have something to ask."

"What is it?"

Song Xing Xing quickly asked her cousin about Bai Zhi\'s matter.

"It\'s true," Song Yi said. "I heard that Miss Bai has sneaked away from her parents. I am worried that she would come to find you and create trouble. Xing Xing, she didn\'t come to see you, right?"

"She didn\'t."

"That\'s good. Initially, I wanted to discuss this matter with your parents. However, President Lu said that he would be responsible for your safety until they found Bai Zhi again."

"And you agreed?"

"Otherwise, would you prefer that I call your parents?"

Song Xing Xing exchanged a few words with her cousin and finally hung up.

She was still thinking that Lu Xun was playing tricks. His explanation about how he had agreed to volunteer as her driver and temporary bodyguard sounded a little suspicious.

However, after talking to her cousin, it seemed that Lu Xun was telling her the truth.
