You're My Only Star

Chapter 12 - Regret

As the car drifted away and leave the station, Song Xing Xing\'s mood gradually calmed down.

She could only lower her head as Song Yi drove her back to their home. Realizing that she was in deep trouble, Song Xing Xing naturally could not find a word to reject the couple.

The atmosphere was quiet and Song Xing Xing did not dare to guess what was in her cousin\'s mind at this time. Looking at the man\'s cold face, she became a little worried that the man was going to scold her.

But then again, her cousin, Song Yi, was the kind of person who would always have that cold expression on his face. It made her wonder how did someone like him manage to marry a wife.

"Xing Xing…" It was Han Yue Xiu who broke the silence. "How did you end up in the police station?"

Song Xing Xing heaved a long sigh. "It\'s all because of Bai Zhi."

Han Yue Xiu raised a brow. "Bai Zhi is your friend?"

"Un." Song Xing Xing nodded. "She thinks that her boyfriend is cheating on her. She asked me to accompany her to that fashion show to catch the boyfriend. Who would have thought that I would run into some lunatic who then accused me of sneaking to find materials on some celebrities and big-shots." Her voice grew smaller as her gaze met with her cousin through the rear mirror.

"The officer said that you were caught for entering without an invitation," Han Yue Xiu said. "If you need an invitation, you should have asked me. I have a friend who can help you to get in." She seemed to recall that her best friend had received an invitation to the event as well.

"I thought that Bai Zhi would have an invitation card when she asked me to accompany her," Song Xing Xing said. "Who would have thought that the moment we arrived, she would ask me to sneak into the venue." A heavy sigh escaped her. "It\'s alright. Just consider this as my bad luck."

"That friend of yours," Song Yi spoke up after a long silence. "Where is she? Why didn\'t she help to bail you out or explain your situation?"

Song Xing Xing pursed her lips as she recalled that Bai Zhi was around when she was dragged away by the policeman. Though she had called her name, Bai Zhi had turned around as if she did not hear her.

She had tried to tell herself that the music was too loud and that there were too many people around for Bai Zhi to notice her. However, there was a part of her that told her otherwise.

Song Xing Xing tried to think positively. She had been friends with Bai Zhi for years and she should know that Bai Zhi was not that kind of person.

"It\'s not convenient for her to help." Song Xing Xing lowered her gaze. "My friend… she\'s an actress and recently, the company is planning to promote her better. If she showed up at the station, then, it would be troublesome for her if the reporters find out."

Song Yi sneered as he heard her explanation. He did not think that his younger cousin\'s friend was a good friend. A good friend would not just leave another when they ran into trouble, right? Even if she cannot show up, couldn\'t she find someone to help?

Moreover, wasn\'t it because of the friend that his younger cousin had to visit the police station?

Those thoughts only made his blood boil. However, Song Yi quickly composed himself when his wife gave a tug at his arms.

"Then what about you?" Song Yi asked. "Do you think it\'s a good thing for you to appear at the station? What if someone snapped a picture of you at the police station? What if someone recognized you and mentioned this matter to grandpa? Do you think it wouldn\'t be troublesome for you?"

Her body stiffened. Song Xing Xing realized that she had never considered those things when she was taken to the police station. She had thought that everything should be fine as she was far away from Y City. She had thought that she can act freely just because no one knew her in Capital City.

However, Song Xing Xing seemed to forget that there are a lot of people who knew her family.

If words reached her grandfather, then, he would be embarrassed and she would really be in deep trouble.

Han Yue Xiu glanced at the girl and heaved a heavy sigh. Although she thought that her husband\'s words were a little harsh, Song Xing Xing needed to hear them. After all, their family situation was a little special.

As she finally figured out that she was on the wrong, Song Xing Xing began to panic. She looked at her cousin with a pleading gaze and called, "Cousin brother… Can you help me?"

Song Yi let out a snort. "What can I help you with?"

"I cannot appear at the court," Song Xing Xing said. "No. I cannot have a record to my name."

"So now you know how to be afraid."

"Cousin brother…"

"He\'ll help you," Han Yue Xiu spoke when she could not bear to look at the girl\'s pleading look. "Don\'t worry. Your cousin brother will help you to settle this matter." She then turned to her husband and sent him a warning gaze.

Song Xing Xing turned to Han Yue Xiu with a grateful look in her eyes. "Please don\'t tell my mother about this. If she heard that I have visited the police station today, she will drag me back to Y City. Sister-in-law, I like it here. I finally found a suitable job and I wanted to stay."

Han Yue Xiu was about to open her mouth to speak when her husband spoke again.

"I can promise to settle this matter and keep this matter a secret for you," Song Yi said. "But I have a condition."

"What condition?" Song Xing Xing stared at the man with wary.

Her cousin can be quite slick with his words. He was a little domineering and would do anything to let people to listen to him. When she was younger, she did not know how much she had suffered.

The car stopped at the red light. Song Yi noticed his wife\'s stare and decided to ignore it. "Help us to babysit after the baby this weekend.. I\'m taking your sister-in-law on a date."
